Exodus 14:15
Then the LORD said to Moses, “why are you crying to me? Tell the Israelites to move on…”
Earlier in verse 2, GOD was the one who told the Israelites to turn back and encamp near pi Hahiroth, between Migdol and the sea. They were to encamp by the sea, directly opposite Baal Zephon; why then did He ask why they were crying to Him? You see, many a time, we overstay and so, our rest is beginning to become a vacation, and GOD being very much interested in seeing us fulfil our purposes, targets and destiny begins to put pressure on us.
While the children of Israel were camping by the sea, pharaoh overtook them. They looked up and cried to Moses. Moses looked up and cried to GOD. GOD looked down and told them to move on.
Do you know that if nothing chases us, we may never chase our purposes in life; we may never run. That’s one explanation for most pressure on us allowed by GOD. So that we can work towards a stronger prayer life, closer walk with GOD, we can think quicker of new ideas, new inventions, new business plans, new innovative thoughts etc. if our boss doesn’t act like they are we might never think of starting our own business which GOD might want for us.
Sometimes if we don’t get pressure from our landlord, we might not think of our own house, so we would never pray to GOD for one. If we never get pressure near the sea, we might never cross over to Canaan. GOD many times wants us to get uncomfortable with where we are so that we can pray to HIM to take us where HE wants us to be. If pharaoh didn’t pursue, Israel wouldn’t cry, Moses wouldn’t pray, GOD wouldn’t move. It's a wonderful thing that GOD makes us uncomfortable in a place of mediocrity.
Since they were beginning to lose motivation, GOD began to use pressure. HE still does that today. Well, because it has proven to be very effective over the years. This is why GOD needs enemies to surround you like HE did the children of Israel. After all, it’s for your own good. To move us to pray, seek HIM for ideas, to depend on HIM, to listen to HIM for what HE would have us do. GOD uses pressure to force us forward. To force us higher. You see, many a time, we are slow. We ought not to be. There’s more land to be covered. Higher spaces to occupy. When we discover who GOD is and how HE works, and we remember that we are sons of GOD, we will understand that we are actually too slow for the potentials GOD has put in us.
Could GOD be telling you something through this pressing state of yours? Even though you think GOD is wicked, could HE be trying to move you into a breakthrough? Could HE be telling you it's time to start something new in your family? In your career? Is the state of your health His way of calling for an improvement in your prayer life? Is HE pressing you towards the mark of the high calling?
