Narrow is the WAY

Nar·row

/ˈnerō/

Adjective

Limited in extent or space; affording little room

Narrow is the path to life, narrow is the path to heaven. You can’t just live your life anyhow, carelessly and expect to make it.

It’s like preparing for an exam, if you want to just ‘pass’ the exam, you may read just half of the chapter, maybe not too carefully even, and wouldn’t sacrifice much for it. But if you are planning to get a perfect score in the exam, you dare not. You would read the whole chapter, more than once even, make notes, try to test yourself and take note of every detail that a mediocre student may not even notice.

In the end, when one considers other factors that come to play, misunderstanding the question, shading wrongly, and all other factors, the person who read to ‘pass’ most likely would not, but if you read to get a perfect score, even if you don’t reach it, you wouldn’t fall too far below.

What’s my point?

The same with the Kingdom of God, Narrow is the way. The definition calls it something that has limited space, limited room. The way some ‘Christians’ live life so carelessly, without eternity in view would make one wonder if it’s the same heaven written about in the Bible that we are all striving for.

Paul said in 1st Corinthians 9:24-25, “run to win”. Don’t run your Christian race like someone that just wants to get by, like someone that ‘just wants to be Chairman’ (as my friends would say it). As if ‘I just want to make heaven, I can’t stress myself’. I assure you, that fellow may eventually not make it.

But run as one that intends to win, that is focused on winning, keeping your focus on Jesus, giving it your all, your best, not just ‘trying’ but trying your best, not just serving, but serving at your best, loving at your best, praying at your best with all your heart, totally, sincerely, sold out. Not trying to see how close you can get to sin without actually committing it (as my pastor would say), but giving your all to live for God, and spurring others to righteousness “…Provoking one another to good works” Hebrews 10:26

For narrow is the way….
