Purposeful Living (Part 2)

DISCOVERING & FULFILLING PURPOSE

Highlighted below are 5 keys to purposeful living; they seek to answer the question, "How can I discover and fulfill my divine purpose?"

1. Intimacy with God.

1 Corinthians 2:9-11 [KJV]

"But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God."

It is made clear in the above scripture that only the Holy Spirit can reveal to you the deep things of God- what things God has prepared for you, and prepared you for before time began. As such, to discover your purpose in God, and in the daily execution of the things of destiny, you must live in constant touch with the Holy Spirit: Be born again, Be baptized in the Holy Ghost, pray in the Holy Ghost regularly, do your Quiet Time daily, study the Scriptures daily, wait upon God regularly and spend quality time to worship God.

2. Discipleship, Mentorship & Fathering

Philippians 3:12 [KJV]

"Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I FOLLOW AFTER, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus."

See the emphasis on 'I FOLLOW AFTER'... There is a following process (Fathering, Mentorship, Discipleship) that you must give yourself to in order to become all that God has ordained you to be.

2 Timothy 1:2, 6 [KJV]

"To Timothy, my dearly beloved son... stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands."

There are divine deposits of God, required for your divine purpose, that can only come on you through the ministry of a Father, Mentor and Discipler.

3. Die to self

Galatians 2:20 [KJV]

"I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me."

Romans 12:1-2 [KJV]

"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."

In order to step into the center of God's plan for your life, you must sacrifice your personal ambitions, your fantasies, fleshly desires, lust, pride, convenience e.t.c. on the altar of divine purpose. Seek to find out what God will have you do, and give yourself fully to it.

4. Establish priorities

Matthew 6:19,25,33 [KJV]

"Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: ...Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? ...But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."

You must prioritize purposeful living above successful living. You must also set right priorities in all the departments of your life. As you run your daily affairs, separate issues based on their importance and urgency:

-Important and urgent

-Not important, but urgent

-Important, but not urgent

-Not important, not urgent

5. Set goals

Philippians 3:13-14 [KJV]

"Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do , forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus."

You must constantly reach out for the things which are ahead. Set goals and work towards achieving them. Move on from your horrible past, move on from past glories, move on from your mistakes and regrets, move on from your hurts and disappointments, move on from all struggles and limitations, move on from your present success, move on from all the drama going on around you, and focus on the great future ahead of you. Set goals, and let them guide you as you approach the future.

IN CONCLUSION

Ecclesiastes 12:13 [KJV]- "Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man".
