"Now after the death of Joshua it came to pass, that the children of Israel asked the Lord , saying, Who shall go up for us against the Canaanites first, to fight against them?"
Judges 1:1 (KJV)
"In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did that which was right in his own eyes."
Judges 21:25 KJV
The above two verses are the first and the last verses of the Book of Judges. After the death of Joshua, there were still remnants of pagan nations that the children of Israel had to fight. But before they went into the battle, they sought the Lord. But at the ending of the same book, after winning many battles, the Bible says “…every man went on his own way and did what was right in his own eyes” (spirit of pride after success).
What Israel did is happening right now in our lives. When problems come, we seek the face of God, but when those problems are over, we do the opposites. We humble ourselves before God when problems comes, but when He takes those problems, pride and self glorification fills our hearts. Just like the Israelite’s, many of us approach God because of problems, but as soon as those problems are over, we stop seeking the face God, and begin to walk in pride.
Beloved! worship God not because of problems, but because He is God. Problem or no problem, let Him be your God, just like those three young Hebrew boys who said; whether He delivered us or not, He is our God.
Have a blessed week! In Jesus Christ name.
