Daily Tonic || Danger Of Sexual Sin

Text- Proverbs 6: 26 "For by means of a whorish woman a man is brought to a piece of bread: and the adulteress will hunt for the precious life”

We live in a generation where sexual sin has been massively trivialized; an age of loose sexual relationships. Nowadays, depending on who you ask, sex is no longer a big deal. Alarmingly, defending the Bible’s standard on sexuality and Christian conduct is becoming increasingly unpopular, not only in our society, but also on the pulpits!

Nonetheless, it is possible to remain unstained in this perverse and degrading generation. Taking Joseph as our biblical example, he was tempted, and even persecuted, yet he refused to defile his body. If Joseph could face and overcome sexual sin, you can have the same testimony in this generation.

By definition, sexual is simply any form of sexual act that takes place outside the marriage covenant. Masturbation, pornography, fornication, adultery, homosexuality, bestiality, incest etc. all constitute sexual sin.

What are the dangers of sexual sin?

1. Sexual sin defiles your body and damages its ability to fulfill God's will. Remember, we learnt yesterday that the body is an avenue to bring pleasure to God, to fulfil his will and to express Christ to the world. When you begin to stuff your body with food, or indulge it in illicit sex, you

damage its ability to do these three things. This is the major reason why sexual sin is very unique; Bible says in 1 Corinthians 6:17 that you commit it against your own body.

2. When you use your body for sexual sin, you dishonor your body and defile God's temple (1 Corinthians 6:19). Your lack of respect for your body (and for the Holy Spirit, whose temple it is) damages your relationship with God.

3. At the core of sexual sin is the sin of idolatry. God's Word says that when a man sins, he exchanges "the truth of God for a lie" and worships and serves "the creature rather than the Creator" (Romans 1:25). When you commit sexual sin, you put yourself, your wishes and your desires ahead of God and

the instructions in His Word. This is idolatry!

4. Sexual sin can hook you worse than any drug; it usually feeds a growing fire of lust in your mind, and if you continue to feed that fire, you will drift further and further into decadence, with continual lust for more. In Romans 6:16, Paul described this as slavery to sin.

5. Sex creates soul ties and emotional bonds. The danger of this is that it can hold you back from experiencing true intimacy with God and your married spouse. This also creates a bridge in the spirit for flow of demonic spirits from one person to the other… Or do you not know that he who is joined to a harlot is one body with her? For “the two,” He says, “shall become one flesh (1 Corinthians 6:16).

Remember the old saying, “First you eat to live, and then you live to eat”? Well, it may be true that the body is only a temporary thing, but that’s no excuse for stuffing your body with food, or indulging it with sex. Since the Master honors you with a body, honor him with your body! (1 Corinthians 6:13 MSG)

PRAYERS

1. I consecrate my body to God today. With my body, I’ll honor God and bring pleasure to Him every day of my life.

2. I consecrate my body to God today. I’ll not indulge in sexual sin; I will use my body as an instrument to fulfil God’s will.

3. I consecrate my body to God today. I’ll use my body as a medium of expressing Christ to the world.
