Holding Unto God's Word.

Text- 2 Timothy 3:1. "This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come."

One thing that we need to daily feed ourselves as God's people, is the Word of God. The importance of the Word of God in our lives cannot be over-emphasized.

1 Peter 1:23 tells us that we are being born again not of corruptible seed but of the incorruptible seed by the Word of God which lives and abides forever. So we cannot do without the Word of God because we came by the Word of God.

The opening verse clearly tells us that in the last days perilous (hard, painful, dangerous, unbearable) times shall come. And the truth is that we are in the very last days. And therefore hard times are not going to come; THEY'RE ALREADY HERE.

Jesus Christ gave a parable of two builders and this is what He said; "Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: 25. And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. 26. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: 27. And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it " -Matthew 7:24-27

You see that! The floods beat on both houses. That is, the trials knocked both houses, but the one built on the rock (God's Word) remained robust. Why? This is because its foundation was well consolidated. The one built on sand had a great fall.

Let your life be founded and built on God's Word and not on your finances, wealth, achievements, intellect, strength or ability. Let all your attention, thoughts, words and actions be on the Word of God. From the Amplified version, the Bible tells us: "Looking away [from all that will distract] to Jesus, Who is the Leader and the Source of our faith [giving the first incentive for our belief] and is also its Finisher [bringing it to maturity and perfection]....." -Hebrews 12:2 Amp.

So look and hold unto Jesus (the Living Word) with your spirit, soul, body and all that concerns you. And you will remain immovable in these perilous times. The world is not getting any better because it is under the influence of the wicked one. That's why you need to be attentive to God's Word because that is your lifting and staying power. So you need to know and practice God's Word for your own good. Esteem God's Word more than your necessary food. Jesus emphasized that man does not live by bread alone, but by every word which proceeds from the mouth of God. Praise God!
