I absolutely love how God in His vast wisdom is very much aware of our ability to easily forget and how much we can be greatly moved by what we see. I believe that is why He set up the earth or the world the way He did; to serve as a practical example, a constant reminder and to properly acquaint us with what we read as “theory” in the bible.
I’ll show you how....
1. Most times, we are always in a hurry and fail to have patience.
He made the seasons –Genesis 1:14; Ecclesiastes 3:1(winter, autumn, spring, summer).
We are assured that after each season there will always be the next and that no season will last forever (even though in some cases one may prolong).
Life Application: Do not get so caught up in “now” that you fail to see that there is more to come.
Another crucial thing about seasons: - For each season, we prepare! —Physically, emotionally, mentally and so on. We get clothes suitable for each season. Most times, we use what we have experienced in the last season as a guide on how to prepare for the next (thicker jumpers, suitable shoes, etc.). It all does not hit us as a big surprise. Same thing, God does not want any season in our Christian journey to knock us off our feet!
Life Application: Be prepared, always. Take notes in this current season and do not disregard what you have learnt in the last.
The classic example on faith. Illustrated with the mustard seed (Mathew 17:20). Plant a seed, give it what is required (in this case, the word of God) it will surely grow (Romans 10:17).
The trees or plants we see around us all began as seeds.
Each time you see a tree, remember that.
Life Application: Little beginnings, keep on nourishing, it will grow and when it is grown, you will be the one recounting and telling stories of how it all started as a seed way back when. (Job 8:7; Zechariah 4:10) Do not despise little beginnings.
Another point when it comes to patience ( God is very much aware of this microwave generation that he broke it further down to assure us)
He made day and night.
Psalm 30:5: “Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.”
We read that verse and it does not sound too abstract because we understand the concept of day and night.
However, life Application: There is dawn before the full break of day (sunrise), be patient my love.
2. God created the smallest unit of life; family. It is a part of God’s beautiful concept that we should not live in isolation. At the beginning of the bible, after God creates man, he also states that “It is not good for the man to be alone.” (Genesis 2:18). We have been made for community. Therefore, we must recognize and appreciate the value of friendship especially with other believers.
Life Application: Do not forsake assembling with your family, spiritual family/God’s people
-Hebrews 10:25
Also, everything originates or is birth from something and needs to remain with its source to survive. We cannot grow when we distance or isolate ourselves from our source of life; Jesus.
John 15:4:
“Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.”
Life Application: Stick with God and when God tells you that he is always with you and you are never alone, believe it! (Hebrews 13: 5b)
Still on family, I love how God illustrates his care for us with the role of a father! I cannot wrap my head around the fact that Jesus loves me way more than my earthly father does (Daddy’s girl) but it is so true! (2 Corinthians 6:18).
I pray for anyone who has not come to fully understand or experience fatherly love in its true form. I pray Jesus reveals himself to you right now at the point where you need him and shows you how much of a good, good father he is.
Rain. The way rain falls from the sky; it descends. Rain does not just descend only to ascend again but it accomplishes its purpose.
Isaiah 55:10-11:
“For as the rain and snow come down from heaven, And do not return there without watering the earth, Making it bear and sprout, And providing seed to the sower and bread to the eater, So will My word be which goes out of My mouth; It will not return to Me void (useless, without result), Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.”
Life Application: God is dependable; a promise keeper. —Numbers 23:19
The sun rises in the East and sets in the West (Isaiah 45:6). This assures us of his vastness, dependability (once again) and faithfulness!
Life Application: You can count on Jesus (for anything and everything!)
Babies getting weaned off breastfeeding is a sign of growth. It is a sign that the baby’s nutritional requirements have changed. At each stage of their development, the right balance of nutrients will be required to support and ensure healthy growth. In the same vein, God desires that as we walk with him, we grow beyond our elementary teaching, knowledge and understanding of him to keep us firmly grounded in him (Hebrews 6:1, 2 Peter 3:18, 1 Peter 2:2-3, Ephesians 4:14).
Looking to God for our daily bread (Mathew 6:11). This involves recognizing God as our provider and looking to him to meet our daily needs (not limited to physical needs).
So, you see, God constantly assures us!
Being able to relate what we read in the bible to what we see around us, everyday living, is just one of the many ways God speaks to all of us. I love the Lord and His word. ️Take time to study, observe and meditate on the creator and creations. You will see him in all his splendor! He is not ‘too far away’. To be honest, everything around you could preach a sermon and there is so much power in knowing something for yourself.
Go beyond the “It-just-happens-to-be-like-this” way of thinking. You are a child of God, seek purpose! You will see that everything points to him; MAKER OF THE HEAVENS AND EARTH️.
P.s. God has a great sense of humor.
“Oh Lord my God, when I in awesome wonder, consider all the works thy hands have made; I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder; Thy power throughout the universe displayed.
Then sings my soul, my savior God to thee
How great thou art, how great thou art
Then sings my soul, my savior God to thee
How great thou art, how great thou art”
