Text- James 5:16 – “The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working]”
Whenever we pray, something always happens. Even if we don’t see immediate result or feel any instant change afterwards, incredible things happen when we pray. Our prayers surely have great power and produce wonderful results.
Spiritual realities may not be immediately glaring to our naked eyes. But if we look through the telescope of scriptures, we will be able to see things beyond the realm of the natural. One of such realities is the tremendous effects of our prayers.
We read in Luke 1: 10-11, “And when the time for the burning of incense came, all the assembled worshipers were praying outside. Then an angel of the Lord appeared to him (Zechariah), standing at the right side of the altar of incense.
We see a similar occurrence in Luke 22:41,43, “He (Jesus) withdrew about a stone’s throw beyond them, knelt down and prayed… An angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him.”
One of the things that happens when we pray is that angelic ministry is activated. Angels are released on assignment from heaven. Jesus was speaking from this understanding when he said to Peter in Matthew 26:53, “Or do you think that I cannot now pray to My Father, and He will provide Me with more than twelve legions of angels?”
Remember the story of Daniel. He was earnestly praying for the freedom of Israel from captivity because the set time for their release had come. While he was in prayer one day, the angel Gabriel showed up and said to him, “The moment you began praying, a command was given. I am here to tell you what it was, for God loves you very much” (Daniel 9:23)
In another instance as we see in Daniel 10:12, an angel appeared to Daniel and said to him, “Don’t be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day you began to pray for understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your request has been heard in heaven. I have come in answer to your prayer.”
I want you to take note of the phrases, “The moment you began praying” and “Since the first day you began to pray”. It is glaring from these expressions that as soon as a righteous man gets before God in prayer, angels from heaven are released on assignment.
Beloved, prayer is a very powerful tool in the hands of a righteous man. Never trivialize or doubt the effects of your prayers anymore. It activates the ministry of angels. Bear this in mind from today whenever you go before God in prayer.
PRAYER
Father, pour upon me the spirit of grace and supplications. Help me to wholly trust in you as you produce wonderful results through my prayers in Jesus Name.
