Daily Tonic || When we Pray (7)

Text- James 5:16 – “The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working]”

In the past few days, we have been talking about what happens when we pray. I have mentioned in a previous study that prayer is not the only thing we need to make life work. Having prayed, we must also take reasonable steps, act wisely and work hard. However, I am convinced that prayer is the most productive activity we can do on this earth.

Beloved, when next the devil tries to put you off or dissuade you from praying, or when anyone begins to suggest to you that prayers will do no good, dismiss such notions immediately. There is great power in the prayers of a righteous man. When you pray, heaven and earth and everything contained in them respond!

Thus far, we have established that when we pray, angels are released on assignment, the atmosphere changes, the heavens open, the Holy Ghost descends, God speaks, and you receive spiritual substance for the ma infestation of your destiny.

Today, we will see one more thing that happens when we pray. Let’s see what happened as Jesus prayed in Luke 9:29, 32:

“As he was praying, the appearance of his face changed, and his clothes became as bright as a flash of lightning… Peter and his companions were very sleepy, but when they became fully awake, they saw his glory and the two men standing with him.”

Whenever we pray, the Glory of God descends and the fashion of our countenance is changed! This was what literally happened to Moses when he conversed with God on Mount Sinai. A portion of God’s glory rubbed off on him, and his face began to radiate that Glory.

We understand this better as we read 2 Corinthians 3:17-18 “

Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.”

We have established earlier that when we pray, the Holy Spirit descends. We are now seeing from Luke 8 that God’s glory also descends when we pray. What happens then, is that as we behold God’s glory, the Holy Spirit begins to do the work of transformation in us… from glory to glory!

A portion of God’s glory rubs off on you each time you pray, and this glory changes your appearance. With your appearance altered, beaming and radiating the glory of God – God himself, angels in heaven, men on earth, the devil and demons alike, all the elements of nature …everyone and everything that exists will behold God’s glory on you and respond to you as such.

PRAYER

Father, pour upon me the spirit of grace and supplications. Help me to wholly trust in you as you produce wonderful results through my prayers in Jesus Name.
