Daily Tonic || What Are You Becoming? (2)

Text- 1 Thessalonians 5:23 "And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ"

Sequel to our discussion yesterday, today, I want to explain to you the constituents of your being and give you few tips on how to manage ad maximize them.

Remember, man is tripartite being: He is a Spirit. he has a Soul. And he lives in a Body. The soul, which happens to be most people's focus, has three components:

1. The Mind

2. The Heart

3. The Will

The mind is the memory recall part of your being. It is your mind that remembers, and it is gated by your senses. What becomes of your mind depends on what you expose it to through what you see, what you ear, what you taste, what you smell, and what you touch.

When you go to school, it is usually our mind that is being worked upon to make you a Doctor, a Teacher, a Banker etc. because that is the part that is being fed with information.

Your heart, on the other hand, is made up of your emotions and your reasoning. You may have a lot of valuable information stored up in your mind, but how well you have mastered your emotions will determine what kind of person you will eventually become.

What is your heart (emotions) tending towards?… A wicked Doctor, a friendly Teacher, a touchy Banker, a flirty Pastor, a sadist Lecturer, a heartless Nurse and so on... I ask, what exactly are you becoming?

Furthermore, your reasoning; how you fashion your heart to think, is very important. In fact, this is the only thing that is measured to determine a person's intelligence Quotient (IQ). You may by your way of reasoning become a careless Banker, a stupid Lawyer, an intelligent Carpenter etc... Again I ask you, what are you becoming?

Finally, your will– the chooser. Your will is that part of you that makes decisions. And truth is, the choices you are making now will certainly affect your future, just as your life today is a product of decisions and choices you have made in the past.

If you choose to accept Jesus as your Lord and savior, you’ll go to heaven; if you choose not to accept him, you’ll go to hell… It’s that simple! By your choices, you can change the entire course of your life.

As a matter of fact, your life is a product of choices and decisions. Everything you are today can be zeroed down to a decision that was made in the past. Examine the choices and decisions you are making today, and ask yourself, “What kind of person am I becoming?”

PRAYER

Lord, according to the riches of your glory; strengthened me with power through your Spirit in my inner being. I pray also that my soul prospers and that I will be in good health in Jesus Name.
