As simple as this phrase sounds, it has quite a lot embedded in it. At first you might think this topic has very few things to offer, but do not let that thought rob you of what God wants to bring out of this topic.
The first thing I will do is give an explanation to the words in this phrase and the interpretation I have given them (these are just personal meanings, you could have something quite different).
First, we have the word 'paddling'.
It’s obvious that this is in the continuous tense which implies that it’s something you would continue doing.
Next, is the word 'your' which represents you as a person.
This just implies that no one will paddle your boat for you. You will do the paddling yourself.
Thirdly, is the word 'boat', which represents a mode of transportation. Only with this boat can you get to your desired destination.
One thing that I will like you to take note of is that paddling a boat can be quite tiring. Especially when you’re alone and when your destination is quite far. That’s why you need a helper on the boat. The helper is the Holy Spirit that would not only assist you in paddling but will also be your companion.
That way, reaching your destination becomes a whole lot easier.
But one thing you must bear in mind is that the Holy Spirit wouldn’t help you if you don’t make an effort. The Holy Spirit needs to see your desire, where you’re lacking, where you need help before he will be able to help you. So you must make the first move.
The truth is that if you try to do the things of God with your flesh or try to reach the place of destiny with your strength, it gets tiring over time.
Also, you must bear in mind that if you don’t paddle the boat it wouldn’t move. Which indicates stagnancy. So for you not to be stagnant you have to keep paddling the boat. This actually indicates your growth spiritually. If you don’t paddle your boat you would remain on the same spot. And this is not a good thing because you wouldn’t reach your destination when you’re supposed to.
When someone is paddling a boat it’s obvious that there’s a destination. As Christians we have that goal and level we want to reach in Christ. We have to fulfil destiny which is why we are actually paddling our boat. But it doesn’t come on a platter of gold. There would be hindrances and distractions on the way. The only way we can move past these things is by keeping our focus on the destination. That way, we can reach our destination when we’re supposed to.
The interesting thing is that so many Christians desire to have an amazing relationship with God. They desire to cast out demons, prophesy, heal the sick, raise the dead and even perform many other miracles but are not ready to pay the price! It takes effort from your part and the help of the Holy Spirit to be able to reach your destination.
So many things have been put in place to be able to help you out throughout this journey:
You have the word of God
You have pastors
Spiritual fathers
Covenant friends and
Other brethren in the church
You can be sure that with all these in place, your journey would be fruitful. So my advise to you today is to "paddle your boat well."
