Text- Hebrews 1:13-14 – "But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thy enemies thy footstool? Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?”
Psalm 91:11 tells us that God gives his angels charge over us, to keep us in all our ways. There are angels that have been ordered by God to attend to you in your daily living. Evidently, a believer that does not recognize and appropriate the ministry of angels will shortchange himself in this life.
You should realize that satan himself, and all his demons, were once angels in heaven, so they understand the excellency of angelic strength, and know that it would be disastrous to them if s a believer knows how to maximize the ministry of angels. T
hus far, we have considered three of the seven major ministry of angels in the lives and affairs of believers – Intervention, Admonition and Revelation. We will continue with another one today.
4. Execution
Angels play a major role in the execution of God’s counsel on the earth, particularly in executing his judgement. Numerous examples of that are found in the Bible.
A classic example is the angel that smote Herod, executing the judgement of God upon him because he refused to give God the glory. Acts 12:21-23 records the story:
“And upon a set day Herod, arrayed in royal, sat upon his throne, and made an oration unto them. And the people gave a shout, saying, it is the voice of god, and not of a man. And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost”
When you read Revelation 12, from verse 7 downwards, we see that it was angels in heaven that executed the judgment of God on Lucifer, and cast him out of heaven. Revelation 20 documents the prophecy of satan’s judgment; we see there that it’s an angel that will lay hold on him, bind him and cast him into the bottomless pit for a thousand years.
When David numbered the people of God, without God’s approval, it was an angel that was sent to execute judgment. We read in 1 Chronicles 21:14 onwards that the angel drew a sword and killed seventy thousand men in one fell swoop.
Beloved, the angels are God’s messengers in executing judgment; a ministry they will do even much more in the end time judgment of sinners, demons and the devil himself. Make the best of their ministry!
PRAYER
Let the angel of God go forth to execute judgment on my behalf today in Jesus Name.
