Daily Tonic || Consider the Matter (5)

Text- Acts 15:6 – “And the apostles and elders came together for to consider this matter.”

For some days now, we have been on this series. I have taught that by living intentionally, we would be able to leverage the minutest details of our lives towards living a high-performance life; a life that is fully maximized, full of awesomeness.

However, danger looms when we pay so much attention to the minutest details of our lives, to the detriment of the bigger issues, or vice versa. Either of these two extremes will make us lose out on some of the value and quality that should otherwise have come out of our lives.

I know that there is a usual vibe that comes with every new thing; it suddenly becomes the in-thing; subtly begins to take precedence over the old stuffs, and so begins to get most (or sometimes even) all of our attention.

However when we look closely, we realize that it doesn’t have to be so. All we need do is set right priorities.

So then, in addition to considering purpose, problems, potentials and principles, another thing that we must consider are PRIORITIES.

You must set right priorities in all areas of your life. For every matter, ask: - What things should I prioritize above this (job, relationship, idea etc.)?

- What things should I prioritize above this (job, relationship, idea etc.)?

- What things should I prioritize this (job, relationship, idea etc.) above?

- What should be my priorities in this (job, relationship, idea etc.)?

As you run your daily affairs, you should learn to set priorities by separating issues based on their importance and urgency. You can review and create your own priority matrix by following the template given by Steven Covey in his book, “First things first” I have included a picture of the template below:

I have included a picture of the template below:

Beyond this template, don’t forget the words of Jesus in Matthew 6:19, 33 "Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:… But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."

PRAYER

Father, please grant me grace to rightly consider every matter, to set right priorities, make the best out of every situation, and live a high-performance life for your praise and for your glory in Jesus Name.
