Text- Acts 15:6 – “And the apostles and elders came together for to consider this matter.”
I believe it’s been an eye-opening series thus far on the topic, “Consider the matter”. By God’s grace, we have been learning how to examine situations, circumstances, opportunities, and all other matters of life, to know how to approach them in a bid to maximize our lives.
We cannot afford to be passive about our lives, and just go with the flow, we must actively engage our brainpower in ensuring that we lead a life that counts for the best, and yields it’s full strength and potential.
We also cannot afford to live by impulse, only dealing with the things that appear urgent per time. This will at best, make us slaves of our own circumstances rather than masters of the same.
For a high-performance life, we have been taught that for every matter, we must consider the purpose, problem, prospect, priorities and principles. Another thing we must consider is PERSPECTIVE.
Perspective majorly has to do with you, and not the situation per se. It refers to your particular attitude towards the matter, or as it were, your a point of view about it. This goes beyond the matter itself, to how you personally view and interpret it.
Many times, when we reach crossroads on an issue, we fail to realize that it had nothing to do with the issue, but with our perspective. Some people are experiencing delay in marriage, not because there are no good men, but because of their wrong perspective about what a god man should be like.
Some people are having a hard time at their job, not because they’re lazy or because their boss is wicked, but because they have a wrong perspective about the job, or their boss. Plainly, you will have a hard time on any matter where your perspective is wrong.
If we look closely, we will realize that wrong perspective was the real problem with the wicked and slothful servant that Jesus talked about in the parable of the talents.
“Then he who had received the one talent came and said, ‘Lord, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you have not sown, and gathering where you have not scattered seed. And I was afraid, and went and hid your talent in the ground. Look, there you have what is yours.’ - Matthew 25:24-25
The unprofitable servant did not maximize the talents that he received because he had a wrong perspective. In our lives also, our perspective must be right if we will lead a high-performance life. So then, it becomes expedient for us to include the analysis of our own perspective in the process of considering a matter.
PRAYER
Father, please grant me grace to rightly consider every matter, to maintain a correct perspective, make the best out of every situation, and live a high-performance life for your praise and for your glory in Jesus Name.
