Daily Tonic || Run The Race (2)

Text- 2 Kings 4:24 – “Then She saddled an ass, and said to her servant, drive, go forward, slack not thy riding for me, except I bid thee”

You must make up your mind that this 2019, you will not just sit and count time. Instead, you will make the time count. But then, if every hour of this year will count towards the fulfilment of your divine destiny, you have to be intentional about it.

Time, they say, waits for nobody. So then you must, beginning from the start of the year, pick up your race like the great woman of Shunem and begin to run.

There is this adage concerning the jungle that goes thus: “The antelope that does not run fast enough will become prey to the Lion. In the same vein, the Lion that does no run fast enough will have no food to eat”. The conclusion then is this: “Whether you are an antelope or a lion, if you wake up in the jungle, you had better start running”

This adage lends to the fact that regardless of the parameters or circumstances on ground, the best you can do for yourself is to start running as early as possible, if you will survive and thrive in the jungle.

Beloved, if you will survive and thrive in 2019, you must pick up your race and begin to run as early as possible.

Still learning from the example of the great woman of Shunem in our text, we see the next thing she did after she had saddled her ass

2. SHE SAID TO HER SERVANT One thing about the great woman of Shunem is that she always knew who exactly to talk to per time. Reading through her story, we see that this woman knew who to talk to whenever issues arise. We see phrases like:

She said to her husband (2 Kings 4: 9, 22) She said to the Man of God (2 Kings 4:27) She said to her servant (2 Kings 8:3)

The same way, as you run your race this year, you must know who to approach per time when you have questions; when you need help; or when you seek directions.

A man of God regularly counsels, “If you don’t know what to do, you must know where to go”. This counsel must not be far from you this 2019. Don’t be that ‘strong’ person that is always there for others, but have no one to run to when you need someone to be there for you.

More so, who have you spoken to about the burdens on your heart for 2019?; who are you carrying along with your plans this year?; who is running the race of destiny with you this year?

Who is your Spiritual Father? Who are your mentors? Who are your companions? Who are those following you?

You must recognize these categories of people, and many more; and you must know how to make the best of the contributions they should bring into your life and journey in 2019

PRAYER Lord, please teach me to recognize those you have brought into my life to play different roles, and to embrace their contributions as they bring their God-ordained quota to my life and destiny this year in Jesus Name.
