"This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare;"
-1 Timothy 1:18.
It is one thing for God's Word to come to you and it's another thing for that Word to be fulfilled. The Bible tells us that the Lord spoke to Moses and told him that through him, He will deliver the Children of Israel from Egypt to the Promised land. Even though God plainly said it, only a few entered. What happened that the Almighty God spoke and what He said didn't happen for most of the children of Israel? The Bible tells us that they didn't enter the Promised land because they didn't mix the Word of God with faith; they couldn't enter into that rest because of unbelief (Hebrews 3:19). Their responsibility was to exercise faith in the Word which God gave them but they didn't.
The opening verse is revealing to us how we are to deal with prophecies that we receive in our lives and how to bring them to pass. Many of us Christians have received profound prophecies that never came to pass. This is because many later gave up (fainted), many doubted, many didn't believe. And yet, these prophecies are so sure.
There are those realities that are present-hour-realities and yet some are not realizing them in their lives. For example, the Word of God tells us that by the stripes of Jesus Christ, we were healed. That means we are no longer sick. Not only that, but we have the life of God which annihilates sickness, disease, infirmity, poverty, failure, and evil. And still, many Christians are victims of this negativity. Why? It is because the faith needed to establish us in the realities of our identities in Christ is dormant. Let's look at the continuation of the opening verse;
"This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare; 19. Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck:" (1 Timothy 1:18-19).
Verse 19 gives us one of the answers to bringing God's Word and prophecies to pass_ FAITH! Your faith keeps the Word alive in your spirit. And irrespective of plight experiences you will still stand prevalent to the end. So grow and strengthen your faith more through God's Word. You need that faith to fight any force that may try to hinder God's Word in your life. And you will prevail by the power of the Holy Spirit. Praise God!
CONFESSION
My faith is alive and effective. I refuse to let situations of life hinder God's Word for my life. I rule over situations and circumstances all the time. The Word of God concerning me comes to pass unhindered. And by faith, I daily realize the glory of God in and through my life. Glory to God forevermore!
