Text- Galatians 6:7- "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap”
You see, the current state of our lives is nothing but the result of what we have been thinking and the way we have lived in the past. Two students may sit under the same lecture, receive the same notes and write the same exam; but the result of that exam depends on how much and how well they have sown.
How much time they sow into studying, how well they sow the seed of attentiveness in class and concentration in study, the seed of diligence towards their academics etc., are things that will determine the outcome of the exams.
There is this famous line from Dr. Charles F. Staley about sowing and reaping, “You reap what you sow, more than you sow, and later than you sow.”
This is indicative of the fact that harvest, though proportional to the measure with which you sow, is definitely going to be more, and that though it may not come instantly, it will come eventually.
We have seen in the course of this series that what we sow and the measure with which we sow are very important. Today, we will see yet another important thing about the law of sowing and reaping "
For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting." - Galatians 6:8
The above verse shows us that where we sow is also very important! As far as eternity is concerned, those who sow to the flesh shall reap corruption (damnation), while those who sow to the Spirit shall reap eternal life.
In other words, those who live to satisfy the lust and the desires of their flesh, are sowing a seed that will germinate into eternal damnation, while those who live to glorify God with their lives are sowing a seed that will germinate into eternal life.
However, this truth pertains not only to the subject of eternity, and our spiritual lives, but to life in general. Even the parable of the sower in Matthew 13 lends to that fact.
If you want to succeed in your career, begin to sow seeds in that direction – spend time studying, acquiring knowledge and skill, praying ahead etc. If you want to have a great marriage, begin to make investments in your life that will yield harvest in that direction.
If you are called into ministry, begin to sow seeds of faithfulness in little things, and in another man’s things.
Every time you think about your future, think in terms of the seeds you are sowing today. If you sow the right seeds, your future will doubtless be secure.
PRAYER
I uproot every negative seed that is germinating evil in my life today in Jesus name, and I ask for grace to sow correctly into my future starting from today in Jesus Name.
