Daily Tonic || Enlarge your Capacity

Text- Isaiah 54:2- “Enlarge the place of thy tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of thine habitations: spare not, lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes.”

The scriptures make it crystal clear that God is well able and absolutely willing to bless us far above all that we could ever ask or think. But then, the question is why are we not receiving (or fully manifesting) the blessing flow that God desires for each of us?

The answer is simple – CAPACITY!

That is what we see in the story of the widow in 2Kings 4. The prophet told her to borrow empty vessels from her neighbors; he added “Borrow not a few”. She did as the prophet had said, and this was what happened: “So she went from him, and shut the door upon her and upon her sons, who brought the vessels to her; and she poured out. And it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said unto her son, Bring me yet a vessel. And he said unto her, There is not a vessel more. And the oil stayed.” - 2 Kings 4:5-6

The oil stayed when she no longer had capacity to accommodate more.

That is the same with our lives; there are many blessings that God wants to release upon your life; much wealth; great anointing; more wisdom; church growth etc. but the limit of your capacity will be the limit to which those things will find expression.

There are five (5) key words in today’s text that show us how to build capacity. Let’s take a quick look at them

1. Enlarge – This means to extend the boundaries. In other words, think outside the box, break all confinements, increase your scope of operation.

2. Stretch – This implies going beyond your comfort zone and convenience. Stretch yourself! Take up challenges, make concerted efforts. Don’t be complacent; reach for more!

3. Spare not – Don’t withhold or hold back. Don’t be lenient on yourself or indulge yourself. Don’t pity yourself or be too careful to take risks.

4. Lengthen – The word “Length” is typically used with the concept of time. So this can be applied to patience, endurance and perseverance. Don’t give up too soon, or quit on anything. Be persistent.

5. Strengthen – Be able to resist attacks and assaults, both physically and spiritually. Build so much capacity that you cannot easily be subdued. Fortify yourself with resources, knowledge, manpower etc.

Beloved, enlarge your capacity. The measure of your capacity determines the measure of the blessings that will flow in your direction as well as the measure that will find expression in your life.

PRAYER

Lord, bless me indeed and enlarge my capacity. I receive grace to enlarge, stretch, spare not, lengthen and strengthen in Jesus Name.
