Text- Jeremiah 8:22 – “Is there no balm in Gilead; is there no physician there? Why then is there not the health of the daughter of my people recovered?”
Inn Jeremiah 8, the prophet was lamenting about the situation of the nation of Israel. He was asking a simple question; “Is there no hope or remedy for God’s people?” He asked, “Is there no balm in Gilead?”
I don’t know what may be going on in your life, or what you may be going through. I bring good news to you today… There is Balm in Gilead! All hope is not lost; there is remedy for your situation.
One of the things balms are used for is to grease up dry areas on the skin, and reduce friction. I don’t know if there is any dry area in your life, or if you are experiencing some sort of friction. Beloved, there is balm in Gilead!
Another thing I have seen balms being used for is to relief blocked noses. Again, if at any time in life, you seem to be experiencing blockage in any form, shape, or manner, the balm of Gilead that take care of the situation… and sure, there is balm in Gilead!
Balms were used in ancient times as healing ointments to dress wounds for healing and to take care of diverse sicknesses. It doesn’t matter how much you have been wounded by sin, wounded in your finances, marriage, academics, emotionally, or any other area of life; I tell you, there is Balm in Gilead!
Furthermore, when people have severe pains, balms are used to massage the area, and the pain is eased. Whenever you experience pain, be it physically, emotionally, or otherwise, all you need is the balm of Gilead to soothe your pain… The god news is that there is plenty of balm available for you in Gilead!
Sometimes even, when there is no pain whatsoever, and you just want some relaxation, you can get a good balm massage. Beloved, there is enough balm in Gilead to calm you down, and give you peace of mind on a daily basis.
As a believer, no situation in life can be hopeless or you, or beyond remedy because of Jesus, the balm of Gilead. He is our constant hope and perfect remedy.
I like how Paul puts it in 2 Thessalonians 2:16 –
“Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father… hath given us everlasting consolation (eternal comfort) and good hope through grace”
Don’t ever accept anything that brings you discomfort or portends to be hopeless. The comfort we have in Christ is everlasting; the hope we have in Him has a good standing. Common! He’s the balm of Gilead.
Never forget… There is balm in Gilead!
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, you are the Balm of Gilead. I put my hope in you and I trust you for perfect healing and comfort in every area of my life in Jesus Name. Amen.
