Text- Ephesians 4:16 – “From whom [Christ] the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplies, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, makes the increase of the body unto the edifying of the body in love”
From today’s text, we see that there are three active players that must work hand in hand for the growth and increase of the body of Christ, and to strengthen the unity and love that should exist therein. These are:
1. Christ
Jesus Christ is the head of the Church
2. Every Joint
These are called men and women who stand in the place of the calling, namely: Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors and Teachers.
3. Every Part
Every born again person is a part of the body of Christ.
The text explains that Christ id the one from whom the whole body is fitly joined together. He is the central point around which the entire body of Christ gathers, and this should reflect in every local Church.
Christ must be seen at the center of everything that we do during church services. So as you step out of your house this Sunday, make sure to go to a church where Christ is the central point around whom everyone is gathered, and for whose glory all things are done.
Meanwhile, ensure to personally keep Christ at the center of your own personal life… every single day of the week!
Talking about the joints, the text talks about “that which each joint supplies”. You see, what your joint (that is, your pastor) supplies will have a great bearing on the tangent of your spiritual life, and fervency of your spirit man.
Don’t go to a place where you will not be encouraged to grow in your walk with god; a place where you will not be taught the undiluted word of God, and fired up for a productive Christian life.
Finally, the text mentions “the effectual working of every part”. This implies that there is work that every member of the body of Christ should be doing; there is part that you have to play in your local church, and you must be effective in it.
You are not supposed to be a benchwarmer in Church; you are a part, and there is an effectual work that you should be doing. There is somewhere in church that you should be functioning. If you aren’t doing so yet, make sure you start today.

Father, I make a commitment today as a part of the body of Christ, to do my own effectual work in contributing to the increase and unity of the body in Jesus Name. Amen.
