Daily Tonic || The God Of All Comfort

Text- 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 – “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.”

Discomfort seems to be a part and parcel of human experience, so much so that there are many professions set forth to help people manage their discomforts, and if possible, alleviate it.

However, Bible tells us that our God is the God of all comfort. This text is talking about God the Father, and it calls him the Father of compassion, and the God of all comforts who comforts us in all our troubles.

Jesus said in John 14:16-18

“And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.”

When Jesus was talking to His disciples about His exit from the earth, He promised to send “another comforter”. This implies that He himself is a comforter. The “another comforter” that He was talking about is the Holy Spirit.

So then,

- God the Father is a comforte

- God the Son is a comforter

- God the Holy Spirit is a comforter

Permit me to say, The Holy Trinity is obsessed with our comfort. God wants us to experience comfort; to be fully comfortable at all times. See, anything that disrupts your comfort should not be tolerated. Take it to God in prayer, and He will take care of it.

Sickness is a source of discomfort

Worry is a source of discomfort

Nightmares are sources of discomfort

Failure brings discomfort

Despair is a form of discomfort

Poverty is a source of discomfort

Take a stand against these things in your life, and any other thing bringing you discomfort, distress, and suffering. You deserve to live a very comfortable life; you have a right to comfort in all its forms, shapes and manners. You should enjoy life, and not merely endure it! And guess what? God is the God is all comfort, and He’s committed to giving you comfort!

PRAYER

Take a stand against anything that is a source of discomfort in your life. Mention them by name, and ask the God of all comfort to give you comfort.
