Daily Tonic || The Features of a Good Church (2)

Text- Hebrews 10:25- “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching”.

Yesterday, we started off on this very important topic. As we proceed today, I will be sharing with you three more things to look for in choosing which Church to attend.

5. ACCOUNTABILITY

Galatians 6:1-2 “Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted. Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.”

The subject of accountability is very important but is scarcely discussed in the modern day Church. Go to a church where there is an accountability structure. There must be someone in Church, be it the Pastor, a leader, or a peer group that you are directly accountable to in your spiritual walk and in your day to day living.

You are not safe in a Church where no one can call you to order if you are not living right; a place where you can choose when and when not to go to Church without ‘stress’. Accountability will require you to open yourself up and share sensitive or personal information. This is why trust is so imperative; be in place where you can share your innermost thoughts without fear of betrayal.

6. TRAINING

2 Timothy 2:2 “And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also”.

There is must be training process in every Church for the building up of the saints and for raising new leaders; I am not talking about a process that only exists on paper, I am talking about a training process that is fully implemented.

A lot of Christians today don’t know how to lead a soul to Christ, how to thoroughly disciple a young concert, how to cast out a demon etc. This is largely because many Churches have no training process at all, or an inadequate one.

You see, before you can step into the fullness of God’s purpose for your life, you must go through divine process; it is that training process that will supply the deficit between whom you are now and who you ought to be in destiny. Be a part of an assembly where you can be trained and groomed to be useful for God’s Kingdom.

7. SERVICE

1 Peter 4:10 “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”

Your Church must give you the opportunity to serve, and you must gladly embrace such opportunities. Don’t just be a bench-warmer, get involved; add value; serve!

Every member of every church, including YOU should be serving in some way! So join a Church where there is a place for you to serve.

PRAYER

Father, please plant me in the right Church where I will be rightly fed and where I can be firmly rooted; a place where I can flourish in your courts in Jesus Name.
