Daily Tonic || By Many Infallible Proofs

Text- Acts 1:3 – “To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God”

Today, being Easter Sunday, is a day specially set aside to celebrate the resurrection of the Lord, Jesus Christ.

You see, the birth of Jesus Christ launched our redemption process, and His death executed it; but it is His resurrection that validates it!

Paul said in 1 Corinthians 15:14, “If Christ has not risen, then our preaching is in vain and amounts to nothing, and your faith is devoid of truth and is fruitless, without effect, empty, imaginary, and unfounded”

As evidenced again in Paul’s statement in 1 Corinthians 15:17, “And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile…”, We see that the truth behind the resurrection story is so central to the Christian Faith.

I particularly like how the Message Bible summarizes Paul’s message in 1 Corinthians 15:16-19: “And if Christ weren’t raised, then all you’re doing is wandering about in the dark, as lost as ever. It’s even worse for those who died hoping in Christ and resurrection, because they’re already in their graves. If all we get out of Christ is a little inspiration for a few short years, we’re a pretty sorry lot”

Generally, there are three kinds of proof

1. Fallacious Proof – This is a proof that is not valid for the proposition or argument being made. They are usually products of wrong assumptions, bias and prejudice.

Take for example, the facts – “Fred is a boy”, and “Fred is a Filipino”, are not valid enough to conclude that “All boys are Filipinos”. That is s fallacious proof!

2. Sufficient Proof – This is a proof that gives sufficient evidence to back up an argument, or to substantiate the truth of a proposition.

Take for example, the facts – “Fred was poisoned” and “Only Fred’s wife cooks and serves his food” is sufficient enough to conclude that “Fred’s wife poisoned him”. Most proofs used in law courts are of this nature.

The conclusions made from sufficient proofs may sometimes be wrong. The fact that it occurs rarely doesn’t cancel the possibility. 3. Infallible Proof – This kind of proof is certain, unarguable, and beyond all doubts. The facts are not just convincing, they cannot be faulted by any form of valid reasoning

Take for example, a video footage, of Fred’s wife poisoning his food, is an infallible proof that she was the one who actually poisoned him.

Going by our text today, the Bible makes us to understand that there are MANY INFALLIBLE PROOFS that Jesus actually rose from the dead. This implies that our faith is true, fruitful, effectual, meaningful, factual and well-established.

Beloved, our faith in Christ is not a gullible faith, or a blind leap into the dark. It is a reasonable faith, based on many infallible proofs. Therefore, we can trust Jesus Christ with our eternal souls, because beyond every reasonable (and even unreasonable) doubt, He rose from death, and He’s alive forevermore!

PRAYERS

1. If you are not yet born-again, I want you to willingly receive Jesus as your Lord today. (Prayer of salvation is on the last page).

2. Father I thank you, that by your might, Jesus was raised from the grave, paving the way for me to have new life with you.

3. Lord Jesus, I commit myself to be a witness and herald of your death and resurrection.
