Daily Tonic || Lessons From Your Body

Text- Romans 1:20 – "For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse”

The text above makes it clear to us that by taking a long and thoughtful look at what God has created, we can begin to understand certain mysteries about god, and about life in general.

Today, I want us to take a long and thoughtful look at our body, and see what mysteries we can learn about life from there.

Firstly, the size of a man’s heart is about the size of his clenched fist. Since the clenched fist of a man is the symbol of his power. This implies to us that a man cannot perform beyond the quality of his heart… A strong heart makes a strong man; a weak heart makes a weak man

Jesus said in Matthew 12:35, “A man out of good treasures of the heart brings forth good things and an evil man out of the evil treasures of his heart brings forth evil things“

In other words, we are saying that they state of your heart determines the state of your heart, and the quality of your heart is the quality of your life. Therefore, guard your heart with all diligence, for out of it springs forth the issues of life (Prov. 4:23)

Secondly, we see that the ear and the eye are at the same level on the head. This is why eye glasses are conveniently hanged on the ears… This means what you see (experience) in life is parallel to what you hear.

Let’s analyze it this way:

  • Your measure of faith determines what you see

  • Faith cometh by hearing! (Rom 10:17). So, the measure of your hearing determines the measure of your faith.

What wisdom can we take from this? If you don’t like what you are seeing in life, change what and/or how you are hearing.

Jesus said in Mark 4:24, “Take heed what you hear” Luke 8:18 records him saying “Take heed how you hear”

Be careful about what you expose yourself to, and be careful about how to respond to anything you are told.

PRAYERS

1. Lord, create in me a new heart, from which great things will issue forth from my life

2. Lord, please guide me in taking heed to (That is, be careful with) what I hear

3. Lord, please guide me in taking heed to (That is, be careful with) how you hear.
