Text- Ecclesiastes 9:10 "Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor thought, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest."
My admonition to you today is to be thorough always, and in all things; to exert yourself and be the best you possibly can be in everything you get involved in. I want you to make up your mind to maximize your potential in all your endeavors.
It is often said that whatever is worth doing at all is worth doing well. This same notion is what today's text lends to... Anything at all that you get involved in, do it with all your might. In other words, give your best shot to anything you set out to do.
In our text, the preacher says that whatsoever your hand finds to do, do with all your might. He went further to state four things: Work, thought, knowledge and wisdom.
These four things are the things we must give our best shot to while on this earth. Beyond this present world, those things cease to exist.
Beloved, whatever work you are given to do, do to the best of your ability. If any assignment is committed to your hands, give your best shot to it. Don't do your job just for the salary, give your best shot to the work you're expected to do. That's why it's called a place of WORK!
Don't laze around in your place of work. Don't get busy with your Bible, or spend the time praying when you should be working the job you're being paid to do. There is time for everything! Let God be glorified through your dedication and diligence, and the resultant output.
Furthermore, whatever thoughts or ideas come to your mind, please process it thoroughly and give your best shot to it. There are many great ideas that have perished in the minds of people because they refused to give their best shot to it.
See, there are so many great inventions that could have been; great things that could have been done, great heights that could have been ascended... If only people gave their best shot to the idea that would birth them. Again, many great ideas have perished on the dung hill of little minds!
You never know what could come out of that little idea that dropped on your mind. Even if the idea seems crazy, don't give up on it so soon. Process it thoroughly; share it with trusted people who can encourage you; and probably join you to drive the idea.
However, remember to sieve your thoughts and ideas on the principle of Philippians 4:8... "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."
Again, the preacher says we must give our best shot to the acquisition of knowledge and wisdom. Whatever you set out to study, give your best shot to acquire knowledge and grow in wisdom. As a student for example, you goal should not just be the grades, but what you are learning; the wisdom and the knowledge you'll acquire should be the priority. Give your best shot to it!
Whatsoever work, or thought, or knowledge, or wisdom that comes along your way in life, please give your best shot to it! Greatness surely awaits you.
PRAYER
Father, I receive grace for diligence in all my endeavors. In all my works and thoughts, and in all matters of knowledge and wisdom that I lay my hands on, help me to make the very best of it in Jesus Name.
