Text- Isaiah 54:2-3 – “Enlarge the place of your tent; stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back; lengthen your cords; strengthen your stakes. For you will spread out to the right and to the left…”
Greatness is fanciful, and much to be desired. However, not many are willing to walk the walk. Not many people are ready to give what it takes to prepare for greatness.
You can confess God’s promises from today till next year; if you fail to prepare, you may not step into the manifestations of those promises. Even if you do by shear chance, you will not be able to sustain it.
That was the difference between David and Saul. David had been prepared for Kingship by shepherding the father’s flock in the wilderness. He was the man for the job because he was adequately prepared. He was a man after God’s heart because he was thoroughly prepared!
Even when Jesus was to come to the world, there was first a preparation. John was sent first to prepare the way!
More so, after Jesus had come as prophesied, He didn’t start His public ministry until He had first prepared. He fasted 40 days and 40 nights in the wilderness!
We have many examples from scripture to demonstrate the necessity of preparation before manifestation.
From our text, have seen three thing you must do to prepare for your future – Enlarge the quality and capacity of your heart;
stretch yourself beyond the limits of your comfort and convenience; build valuable relationship. This is the fourth:
4. Strengthen your stakes
You must build spiritual strength and stability! This cannot be overemphasized. You must take your spiritual disciplines very seriously. Here are a few tips for you:
1. Feed voraciously on the word of God till it dwells richly in you
2. Pray in the Holy Ghost at least one hour daily
3. Fast regularly – at the barest minimum, once a week
4. Fellowship with other believers regularly
5. Take up a divine assignment. Be a part of the workforce in your local assembly
On your mark… Get set!
PRAYER
Father, I know that my stakes must be strengthened, but I cannot do it all by myself. Please grant me grace, and show me your way O Lord. I will walk in it. Strengthen me with might by your Spirit in my inner man in Jesus Name.
