Daily Tonic || Intimacy With God

Updated: Jul 29, 2020

Text – Ephesians 2:13 – “But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ”

DAILY TONIC is your daily inspiration towards a vital, sustainable and reproducible close personal walk with God. This daily devotional will gear you towards a better and a more consistent relationship with God. So let’s talk about the subject of intimacy with God again.

Intimacy is a detailed knowledge of someone resulting from a close personal relationship with the person. I want us to note that intimacy has two major components – Close personal relationship and detailed knowledge.

Close Personal Relationship is a result of time spent together, constant heart-to-heart communication, openness and shared interest. TIME SPENT TOGETHER

If you have a close personal relationship with someone, then you would spend a lot of private time together. And to be sincere, you will agree with me that is it takes effort to find the time and energy to connect with God on a regular basis - just as it does with any relationship that matters.

The truth however, is that we can find time to be alone with God on a daily basis, but we have to be intentional about it. Think of making out time for God in your daily schedule, as though you're scheduling an appointment on your calendar to meet a friend.

Now the question is, how would you spend time with God when you can’t see him?

1. Spending time in His Word… Understand that spending time in God's Word isn't about primarily gaining more knowledge from scriptures, it's about getting to know Someone as real as the person next to us, yet as mysterious as the universe.

2. By spending time in Prayer… The Bible tells us in Matthew 14:23 that, “After (Jesus) had dismissed them, He went up on a mountainside by Himself to pray. When evening came, He was there alone”.

In order to build a solid personal relationship with God, you must build a strong prayer life; you must learn to go by yourself to God, alone.

Before spending time studying the Word daily, spend some time praying and worshipping God; and after you have studied the Word, spend some more time in prayer and spend the whole day meditating on what you have read. That’s how to keep on touch with God.

PRAYERS 1. Lord, take me deeper in love with you. Draw me close to your embrace Lord! 2. Lord, please give me a fresh hunger and thirst today for intimacy with You. Put fresh fire on my altar Lord, in the Name of Jesus. 3. Lord Jesus, I make a commitment today to create time to be alone with You; spending time in your Word, and in prayer on a daily basis.
