Daily Tonic || Seek First the Kingdom (2)

Text- Matthew 6:33 – “But seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you”

Paul tells us in Romans 14:17 that the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. That makes so much sense when compared to our text where Jesus said to seek first the kingdom of God, and His RIGTHEOUSNESS.

So you see, the kingdom of God is righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. Jesus said what you must pursue is the kingdom of God, and particularly His righteousness. When you do this, all other things that will give you joy and peace will be added unto you.

When you seek first the kingdom of God, you won’t have to run around seeking joy and peace like others do. You won’t have to live your life trying to gain peace and joy. They will simply be added unto you.

The deal is this; there are blessings locked up in the operations of God’s kingdom. These blessings of God will not only bring you joy; in addition, God will ensure than no sorrow accompanies it so that you will be at peace at all times and by all means.

That’s why Bible says I Proverbs 10:22, “The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.”

It is so important that we understand how life in its fallen state operates – that is, the kingdom of this world. When we do, we will appreciate better why it’s important to seek first the kingdom of God.

The forbidden fruit that man ate in the Garden of Eden is that of a tree called “The tree of the knowledge of good and evil”. Since that time, good and evil always go and in hand in one package whenever man is involved.

For example, the white men brought civilization to Africa, but they also brought slavery… Good and evil!

Guns may have been invented for the protection of lives and territories, but same guns are used to commit murder and treason… Good and evil!

The same internet that can help in spreading the gospel, and facilitating knowledge and education is also filled with all sorts of damaging contents… Good and evil!

The same man, Alfred Nobel who instituted the Nobel prize (arguably the most prestigious award on earth today) is the one who invented dynamite, which is used in making atomic bombs (arguably the deadliest weapon on earth today)… Good and evil!

It’s a trend that is statutory. The fall of man legislated that arrangement, and only the operations of the kingdom has the capacity to violate that trend, and break the link between good and evil.

“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a net, that was cast into the sea, and gathered of every kind: Which, when it was full, they drew to shore, and sat down, and gathered the good into vessels, but cast the bad away.” – Matthew 13:47-48

The operations of the kingdom produce that which is good and excludes everything that is evil. That’s why God’s says we should seek first this kingdom.

PRAYER

My father who art in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come. Let your kingdom be established in increasing measures in my heart, and on this earth in Jesus Name. Amen.
