Text- Isaiah 54:2-3 – “Enlarge the place of your tent; stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back; lengthen your cords; strengthen your stakes. For you will spread out to the right and to the left…”

There is progress, increase, and enlargement coming your way. But you must get ready for it. Great things only happen when opportunity meets preparation. You can’t sit down doing nothing and expect greatness to happen out of the blues. Bible says in 1 Chronicles 27:6, “So Jotham became mighty, because he prepared his ways before the Lord his God.”

Preparation is prerequisite to greatness. You cannot “GO” if you do not first “GET SET”! That’s a principle that guides every standard race. Even if you decide to go, you will be disqualified from the race.

This also is what today’s text emphasizes – the need for us to get ready for the great things God is set to do in our lives. According to the text, it is certain that you will spread out on all sides, but there are things you must do in preparation.

1. Enlarge the place of your tent Your first responsibility is to create space in your heart for what is coming. If you cannot conceive it in your heart, it will be very difficult for you to achieve it. This may require you to think outside the box, or even break the box altogether!

It’s quite simple – The quality of your mind determines the quality of your life. Bible says in Proverbs 23:7, “As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he”.

That was the problem the children of Israel had in Numbers 13. The spies said they looked like grasshoppers in their own eyes. That was a major impediment! God’s plan for them was victory, but they could not achieve it because they could not conceive it in their hearts.

In fact, Bible says in Psalm 78:41 that these people limited the Holy One of Israel. They limited the ability of God in their lives because they refused to create space in their heart for what God was about to do.

My counsel to you today is to begin to make concerted efforts to enlarge the place of your tent – to create space in your heart for what God wants to do in your life. Think outside the box, and break the box itself if you need to.

On your mark… Get Set!

PRAYER Father, please grant me grace to enlarge the place of my tent. I ask the Holy Spirit to begin to work on my heart, preparing me for the great future that you have planned and purposed for me. May I never limit you in my life in Jesus Name.
