A few months back, I woke up on a rainy Friday night at exactly 3am Philippines time, for a certain live teaching that was organized by my Spiritual father, at the same time it was raining so badly.
The teaching took 3 hours and ended by 6am, after which I had a leading to go to the balcony. My intention of going to the balcony was to take pictures of the sunset but when I got there, my intentions changed and my attention was drawn towards the caretaker who cleans the compound.
I watched her as she diligently watered the flowers and swept the compound under the rain by 6am and this got me thinking, the owner or landlady of the apartment stays really far from us yet, we the tenants do not care if the compound is cleaned, neither the flowers watered, all in the name of ''we are all adults and do not litter the floor''
While thinking, I got this word, "What would you do or how productive are you when no one is watching"?
A lot of times we tend to do eye service jobs because we want to be praised, we want to be acknowledged but then when no one is watching, we act differently, we return back being compromising, lazy and ignorant.
Proverbs 22:29 says "Seest thou a man diligent in his business? He shall stand before kings, he shall not stand before mean men"
Like this lady, you will agree with me that she was diligent in her works despite the fact that no one was watching.
This isn't just about work but it also applies to our spiritual lives as well.
How's your attitude in corporate gatherings and how's your attitude in the secret place?
Let me leave you with these questions:
How productive are you even in times you don't feel good, even when it's raining or sunny?
When all hope seems lost, how productive are you?
How is your spiritual life? How can you rate your spiritual health?
