Romans: 12:2. "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."
There's is what is known as Christian transformation. This transformation comes by renewing your mind. When you became born again, it was your spirit man that got born again (recreated). Nothing happened to your soul and flesh. And that's why after you got born again you were still the same physically. If you were short, black, bald, slim etc, you realized that you didn't change in your physical appearance. Your soul wasn't recreated after you were born again. That is why after being born again, you had the same funny thoughts until you started renewing your mind [that is if you did renew it]. That's why you can see someone that is genuinely born again and yet live a funny life. Why? Because the person's mind is not renewed so he or she lives according to the dictates of the mind which are orchestrated by Satan (Ephesians 2:3).
So God's Word tells us not be conformed to this world; but be TRANSFORMED by the RENEWING of our minds. It means that when the mind is not renewed, no transformation can take place. The word transformation in that verse is from the Greek word "metamorphoó", which means a complete change in state and form. So when your mind is renewed, you experience a complete change of state and form. YOU RENEW YOUR MIND THROUGH GOD'S WORD BY SPENDING SUFFICIENT TIME TO LISTEN, STUDY AND MEDITATE ON THE WORD OF GOD TILL YOUR MIND GETS SO FULL OF GOD'S WORD.
The Word of God will give your mind the God-kind of mind. The God-kind of mind is the mind of God_ the mind of Christ. When your mind is renewed, you'll begin to think, reason, judge and interpret life and situations like God. This is the kind of mind that God desires us to have. He says, "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:" (Philippians 2:5).
God's Word is so important for your daily life. It's funny when I see believers always desirous for the man or woman of God ministering the Word to finish his or message rapidly so they will go home. They don't know that they are harming themselves. Because they don't have an understanding of spiritual things. Some even dare go home while the servant of God is ministering. Don't have a bad or irreverent attitude towards God's Word. If you don't honour the Word of God, it can't minister to you nor bless. It becomes difficult for you to understand it also. THE HOLY SPIRIT TOLD ME YESTERDAY THAT HE CAN'T BLESS SOME BELIEVERS BECAUSE THEY DON'T HONOUR (REGARD,REVERENCE) GOD'S WORD.
Some occupy themselves on the internet browsing, chatting, matching movies, comedies, etc, while God's Word is being ministered. This is how many have dishonored God unawares. Give reverence to God's Word anywhere it's being ministered, for your own good. Before you listen to God's Word in Church or anywhere, get rid of any distractions [ease yourself very well] and be prepared enough to pay maximum attention to God's Word.
Inundate your mind with God's Word daily. Always meditate on the God's Word and it will grant you God's light, wisdom. insight, knowledge and understand of all life issues. Approach God's Word beyond Church. I was like that some years ago until God corrected me and I changed. I would go to Church with my Bible, notebook and pen and I would write the message being preached BUT I never made time to study for myself. And God opened my eyes to not only listen to His Word in Church, but also to study on my own at home. And that's how I started growing spiritually.
I pray for you that through the Word you will gain more divine wisdom, knowledge, insight and understanding concerning all that pertains to life and godliness in the mighty Name of Jesus. Amen.
