The Entrance Of God's Words.

"The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple" (Psalms 119:130).

First of all, we need to understand that the Word of God is a lamp and a light (Psalms 119:105). And if it is a lamp and a light, then it can be take advantage of for vision, awareness, and direction. It is our responsibility to make that happen.

The opening Scripture we read above reveals to us what happens to us when God's Word 'enters' someone. King David said, "The entrance of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple." The Word 'entrance' is from the Hebrew word, 'pêthach', which means unfolding, opening, revealing. So, the unfolding, opening, revealing of God's words give light, and it gives understanding to the naive.

God's words are light, but before you get the light, and the understanding, they have to enter (be unfolded, be revealed to) you. How can the words (sayings) of God enter you? For that to happen, you have to present yourself to them in the place of study and meditation through the Spirit of God. The same King David who spoke about the entrance of God's words told us what the words of God did to him by meditation. He says,

"O how love I thy law! it is my meditation all the day. Thou through thy commandments hast made me wiser than mine enemies: for they are ever with me. I have more understanding than all my teachers: for thy testimonies are my meditation" (Psalms 119:97-99).

Did you see that? Through meditation, he became wiser than his teachers, the ancient, and his enemies. His vast and continual meditations on God's word made him exceedingly wise.

Until we are like King David, in the place of meditation, we cannot certify ourselves that we are wise. We cannot convince ourselves that God's words are revealed unto. We have to respond to God's Word beyond studying to preach or teach. That is not the cardinal purpose of God's Word. God's words are life to us.

We therefore need to spend sufficient time with God's Word. It is a concerted discipline that you must make to achieve that. As we commit ourselves to God's Word, we will see its work so evident in and through us. Hallelujah. God bless you.
