"And now, brothers, as I close this letter, let me say this one more thing: Fix your thoughts on what is true and good and right. Think about things that are pure and lovely, and dwell on the fine, good things in others. Think about all you can praise God for and be glad about. Keep putting into practice all you learned from me and saw me doing, and the God of peace will be with you"
-Philippians 4:8-9 TLB.
It is very vital to know how to think and what to think on. The thoughts that we allow to settle in our minds direct the words we speak, the choices we make, the decisions we make, the steps we take, our actions and our entire life.
Many people have become serious victims and captives of negative thoughts as against what the Word of God tells us. For example, the Word of God tells us to think and dwell on things that are of and from God, but there are those who just cannot do that. Why? It is simply because they have allowed the negative thoughts to sediment in their minds, and make them take another direction. They have allowed their experiences to give them another kind of perspective instead of God's perspective.
However, we must train ourselves to continually think and dwell on things that are in line with the Word of God. In the first place, before you can align your thinking with God's Word, you will have to fill your mind with God's Word. You have to study, think, meditate and talk the Word of God. That is the beginning of transformation in your thought life.
When the Word of God takes residence in your mind, all the thoughts of worry, lack, frustration and defeat will disappear. All these thoughts do not take you forward. They can only hinder you. They are not solution and answer providers; the Word of God is the solution and provider. That is where your peace is. In Isaiah 26:3, the Bible tells us,
You will guard him and keep him in perfect and constant peace whose mind [both its inclination and its character] is stayed on You, because he commits himself to You, leans on You, and hopes confidently in you.
He will guard and keep in perfect and constant peace those whose minds are stayed on Him; not everybody.
So, reject those thoughts that are against the Word of God and continually think on the ones that the Word of God presents to you. From the Amplified Bible, Hebrews 12:2 tells to be;
Looking away [from all that will distract] to Jesus, Who is the Leader and the Source of our faith [giving the first incentive for our belief] and is also its Finisher [bringing it to maturity and perfection].
Did you see that? The Lord expects us to look away (turn our mind's attention away from all distractions) unto Jesus (The Living Word). The Word is our propellant and the distractions are the hindrances. Therefore, programme your mind with God's Word so that you can and will always think God's thoughts and have God's answers. Praise the Lord. God bless and keep you.
Have a glorious day.
