"Pure and unblemished religion [as it is expressed in outward acts] in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit and look after the fatherless and the widows in their distress, and to keep oneself uncontaminated by the [secular] world" -James 1:27 (AMP).
The world in which we live is full of corruption and so many modus operandi that are inconsistent with the original plan of God. The fall of man ushered us in a dispensation of sin and death that reigned upon, corrupted mankind and his environment and finally brought death. Apostle Paul tells,
"Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:" -Romans 5:12.
Even after the introduction of the Law through Moses, sin and death were still reigning. But thank God for salvation in Christ Jesus, of which the Word of God tells us,
"There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death" -Romans 8:1-2.
You that are in Christ have been made free from the law of sin and death. You now have eternal life in Christ Jesus.
However, you need to stand in that freedom you have in Christ (Galatians 5:1- "It was for this freedom that Christ set us free [completely liberating us]; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery [which you once removed]" ). Do not allow the systems of this world shift or contaminate you. The latter part of our opening scripture charges us to keep ourselves from being contaminated by the world. That means if you do not keep yourself, you will be contaminated (spotted).
Therefore, you need to walk with God the more, especially in these last days. In the days of Noah, when his generation was vile, perversed and corrupted, Noah walked with God (Genesis 6:9 -"These are the records of the generations (family history) of Noah. Noah was a righteous man [one who was just and had right standing with God], blameless in his [evil] generation; Noah walked (lived) [in habitual fellowship] with God."). His walk with the Lord insulated him from the corruption that was the order of the day in his time. Once we submit our entire being to God and His Word, we will not be contaminated.
Praise God! God bless you.
